Chapter 1739: Full-level Boss Dressed As a Peasant Girl

Chapter 1739: Someone Guarding the Abandoned Mansion

Without wasting words, Xia Yi charged forward with her sword.

County Magistrate Cheng retreated once again, even shouting loudly, "Ah Qiang, Ah Da, come out quickly."

Xia Yi hesitated for a moment, then saw two guards emerging from the study. Her expression instantly turned serious.

Even without engaging, she could sense that these three guards of County Magistrate Cheng were all skilled.

Sure enough, when their blades clashed, Xia Yi could feel the opponent's strength was extraordinary. It was truly surprising that such skilled individuals were hidden around a minor county magistrate.

Narrowing her eyes, Xia Yi wasn't too concerned, but the appearance of Ah Qiang and Ah Da behind her effectively blocked her.

County Magistrate Cheng secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He watched Lu Wu and the others, who had come in with Xia Yi, charging toward him. He urgently shouted, "Quick, go."

Beside him, Ah Ping expressionlessly supported County Magistrate Cheng, not entangling with Lu Wu and the others. Without further ado, they scaled the wall and left the county office.

Lu Wu and his group hesitated for a moment. Xia Yi yelled, "You go after them, I can't break free for now."

As she spoke, Xia Yi swiftly struck Ah Qiang with her sword.

Seeing that she wasn't at risk, Lu Wu gritted his teeth and turned to leave with his men.

However, they were a step too late. County Magistrate Cheng was familiar with Chenggu County and had Ah Ping to guide him. They quickly disappeared among the various streets.

"Sir, where are we going?" Ah Ping asked.

After running a long distance, County Magistrate Cheng heard commotion coming from the city gate.

He contemplated for a moment and frowned, "Could it be that the city gate has been breached? Did Xia Yi and the others just enter from outside the city?"

They couldn't go through the city gate, and his private mansion... was not an option either.

Since the Imperial Guard had already found out about his collusion with the Second Prince, his private mansion was surely under their scrutiny. He feared it might already be surrounded.

Returning there would be walking into a trap.

"Sir," Ah Ping turned to County Magistrate Cheng as he remained silent.

County Magistrate Cheng's face twisted. He gritted his teeth and said, "Head to the abandoned mansion."

"Yes."

With Ah Ping leading the way, County Magistrate Cheng rushed out. The more he ran, the more anxious he became. He hadn't seen a single patrol guard along the way.

How could this be? They were all captured, or... had something happened?

"Hurry up." County Magistrate Cheng's urgency grew as he just wanted to reach the hidden passage in the abandoned mansion, then escape the city via the underground market to find Boss Wu. He needed to inform him that the plans had changed, and the Emperor might already know their intentions.

However, County Magistrate Cheng hadn't realized that the once vast underground market had changed ownership. The people inside had been replaced, and even the passage leading outside the city had been sealed.

The two of them quickly arrived at the abandoned mansion. Ah Ping led County Magistrate Cheng, and they vaulted over the wall.

As soon as they landed, they hurried towards the house where the entrance to the secret passage was located.

But just as they entered the courtyard, Ah Ping suddenly halted, even grabbing County Magistrate Cheng who was about to move forward.

"What's wrong?" County Magistrate Cheng furrowed his brows, puzzled.

A Ping cautiously scanned the surroundings, "Someone's here."

County Magistrate Cheng's face turned pale. He clenched his fist tightly and stared around with widened eyes.

However, all he heard was the rustling of grass being brushed by the gentle breeze. After Ah Ping's gaze circled around, he stopped at a spot to the left front, his voice cold as he said, "Come out."

The sound of rustling suddenly grew louder. County Magistrate Cheng watched in disbelief as one, two, three, four, five, six people walked out from the shadows.
