Chapter 1732: Full-level Boss Dressed As a Peasant Girl
Chapter 1732: Shu Yu Goes to Deliver the Message
Lu Wu took the basket and whispered, "She went to the county office."
"To the county office?"
Lu Wu nodded, his voice even lower, "I heard that General Huang has entered the city, and she went to find General Huang."
They had already taken control of the county magistrate's residence. It seemed that the County Magistrate had anticipated trouble and sent his family away in advance. Other than the loyal servants, there were hardly any people left in the residence.
Their group had entered silently through an internal secret passage, catching the residents unprepared. It had been easy to seize the mansion.
After securing the residence, they had searched the large mansion, finding quite a few things. At the very least, they had gathered evidence of County Magistrate Cheng's crimes.
Just then, they received news that General Huang had entered the city with his men.
Xia Yi needed to inform General Huang about everything that had happened in the black market, which was why she went to find him.
Shu Yu frowned, feeling worried. She was concerned that after Xia Yi informed General Huang, he might not be vigilant enough around his companions, leading to leaks.
She asked urgently, "When did Xia Yi leave?"
"Just now."
Shu Yu thought for a moment and said to Lu Wu, "Take me to the residence. I need to write a letter."
"Alright."
Lu Wu led Shu Yu and Yuan Gui to the residence's entrance. He provided her with paper and pen.
Shu Yu wrote quickly, summarizing the situation briefly before stopping. She then stood up and said, "I'm going to the county office now. You two should hide and wait for my message."
She didn't even wait for Yuan Gui, quickly blowing on the ink on the paper and folding it before heading straight to the county office.
The entrance of the county office was quiet, with guards from both General Huang's soldiers and the county soldiers stationed outside. However, there was no interaction between them, not even a single exchange of glances, and the atmosphere was tense.
As Shu Yu hurried over, her arrival immediately caught the attention of both sides.
Someone stepped forward to block her path. "Who goes there? If you don't have urgent matters, leave quickly."
This person was clearly a soldier brought by General Huang, wearing armor and giving off a cold and stern vibe.
Shu Yu panted for breath and glared at him, speaking arrogantly, "I am Lu Xiangjun of Dong'an Prefecture, personally appointed by the late emperor. I have urgent matters to discuss with General Huang. You, a mere soldier, dare to stand in the way? Get out of the way."
The soldier was taken aback, "Halt! Even if you're a village lord, you can't enter without authorization."
Shu Yu gritted her teeth. "You've got some nerve..."
"This is protocol," the soldier replied, holding his knife in front of her.
Shu Yu took a step back, seemingly wary of the knife in his hand. "Fine, since it's protocol, then go and inform them. Tell them village lord Lu has urgent matters to discuss with General Huang. What are you standing around for? Hurry up and go, or are you capable of shouldering the responsibility if you delay official business?"
The soldier frowned and, due to Shu Yu's identity as a village, reluctantly went inside to report.
General Huang was in conversation with the County Magistrate when he heard that Shu Yu had arrived. He was quite surprised.
General Huang was aware of Shu Yu's name. She was the adopted daughter of the Shu family, exiled to the southwest, and managed to clear her name and become a village lord.
And also... she was Meng Yunzheng's fiancée.
General Huang squinted his eyes. If miss Lu had come, then Meng Yun Zheng should also be in Chenggu County. But why didn't they wait for him to approach them? Why did they rush over openly as soon as he arrived in the city?
