Liu Tinglan, hearing Mo Yan’s teasing, couldn’t help but feel more certain that the blame wasn’t entirely hers. “Exactly! If you had just let the Five Beasts wear that beast tag, I would have remembered your status. But you hid it, so how can you blame me?”
Mo Yan was left speechless, waving her hand dismissively. “Fine, fine, we both made mistakes. Arguing about it won’t get us anywhere! But if you ever suffer again, you must tell me. Otherwise—hmph, don’t blame me for not being your friend anymore!”
“Of course, with such a useful friend, I don’t have to be silly! Don’t worry, I’ll let you know!” Liu Tinglan agreed readily, with no hesitation.
But Mo Yan couldn’t help but feel something was off about Liu Tinglan’s tone and choice of words. It sounded a bit strange to her, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on why.

The next day, Mo Yan handed over all the work at the construction site to Mo Qingze. In the face of his helpless gaze, she put a large basket on her back, grabbed Liu Tinglan’s hand, and with the six beasts in tow, they sped out of the house, running toward the lush mountains.
The entire mountain range was covered with a variety of wildflowers, and the air was filled with their natural fragrance. Compared to the perfume in the rouge shops, this scent was fresh and pure.
“Yan Yan, these flowers smell so good! We should pick more and make rouge with them. It might even be better than the ones sold in the shops,” Liu Tinglan said excitedly, wearing a beautiful pink flower crown and holding a handful of freshly picked flowers.
Mo Yan was surprised. “You know how to make rouge?”
Liu Tinglan chuckled awkwardly and lifted her chin proudly. “You know so many things, don’t you know how to make rouge?”
Mo Yan’s eye twitched, and she almost threw the flowers in her hand at her friend. “By your logic, you know how to eat, drink, and sleep. So, are you going to get yourself pregnant too?”
Liu Tinglan was stunned, having never heard such bold words before. Though she wasn’t exactly sure how children came into being, she vaguely understood that a woman had to sleep with a man to conceive. She wasn’t about to let that happen to herself!
When she realized she’d been teased, Liu Tinglan threw her flowers into the basket and rolled up her sleeves, charging toward Mo Yan. “You naughty girl! You’re getting worse and worse. You dared to use such embarrassing words to trap me. See if I don’t teach you a lesson!”
Mo Yan quickly dodged, teasing Liu Tinglan by keeping just out of her reach. “Come on, sister Lan, hurry up and catch me! Haha, you’re so slow—slower than an old lady!”
“You, stop right there! If you’ve got the guts, don’t run!” Liu Tinglan shouted.
“Why would I stop? I’m a lady, I have no courage!” Mo Yan laughed, staying just far enough to keep the chase fun.
“You dare say such filthy words today? I’ll remember every single one, and I’ll tell Uncle Mo. He’ll teach you how a proper lady should behave!”
“Go ahead, go ahead! I’d love to see how you explain those ‘filthy words’ to my father, haha!”

The two continued to chase and taunt each other around the mountain, with Mo Yan effortlessly outpacing Liu Tinglan in both speed and wit. Liu Tinglan, now thoroughly exasperated, shouted in frustration, vowing to catch Mo Yan and make her “suffer.”
The six beasts, sitting in a neat row, lazily followed the chase with their eyes. When they saw Liu Tinglan could not catch their master, they grew bored and began stretching and yawning, their tails lazily flicking in different directions. They seemed content and relaxed, thoroughly enjoying their nap while their humans continued to play.
